Who is eligible?

Any person (18 years of age or older) who has received their Canadian citizenship (in the last 365 days) is eligible.

 

How do I register for a CAP?

You register online by clicking the register button on this page.

 

How many people does my CAP grant admission to?

A CAP grants admission to the pass holder and up to four (4) of his/her dependent minor children (17 years of age or under).

 

How much does CAP cost? Are there any fees?

CAP is free of charge for general admission to participating institutions. CAP may not be valid for special presentations and events, parking and separately priced exhibitions and programs.

 

Does my CAP expire?

Yes. CAP is valid for one year from the date you are sworn in as a citizen.

 

If, for whatever reason, I do not register for or pick-up my CAP soon after receiving my citizenship, will the pass be valid from one year from the date of registration?

No. Each CAP will be valid for one year from the date you are sworn in as citizen.

 

Who is the pass holder?

The person whose name appears on the CAP. The CAP can only be used by this person.

 

If I was recently sworn in as a Canadian citizen, but my spouse/partner has not yet received Canadian citizenship, or is already a Canadian citizen, can he/she use my CAP?

No. The pass may only be used by the pass holder.

 

My dependent minor child/children received their Canadian citizenship in the last 365 days, can they apply for their own CAP?

No. Children under 18 years of age are granted access when accompanied by their parent/guardian if the parent/guardian is a pass holder.

 

Can my spouse, partner or friend(s) use my CAP?

No. A CAP can only be used by the pass holder.

 

Can my spouse, partner or friend(s) accompany me and gain admission through my CAP?

No. They may accompany you but are subject to regular admission costs. CAP grants admission to the pass holder and up to four (4) of his/her dependent minor children (17 years of age or under).

 

I have a Cultural Access Pass for the Toronto region, can I use it elsewhere?

Yes. As of June 1, 2011 you can use your CAP pass at any of the participating institutions from coast-to-coast-to-coast! Check the list of attractions and start planning your travels to visit as many of them as possible.

 

Can I use my CAP for special presentations and events or separately priced exhibitions and programs?

Possibly. Special presentations and events and separately priced exhibitions and programs are not guaranteed and are at the discretion of the participating institutions. If you intend on visiting such an exhibit or event, please contact the participating institution regarding admission cost for CAP holders.

 

When can I pick-up my CAP?

Once you have registered online, your CAP is ready for pick-up.

 

Where can I pick up my CAP?

You may pick-up your CAP at any of the designated pick-up locations in your region. Pick-up locations are listed on the Pick-Up Locations page of this website.

 

What do I need in order to pick-up my CAP?

You will need your Citizenship Document and a piece of photo ID.

 

What is a Citizenship Document?

A Citizenship Document is the letter-sized certificate that contains the name of the new citizen and date of their citizenship that is given to every new citizen at his/her citizenship ceremony.

 

I am unable to make it to any of the pick-up locations. Can my CAP be mailed to me?

No. Your CAP must be picked up using your Citizenship Document and photo ID to verify eligibility. All of the pick-up locations are also participating institutions that grant complimentary admission to pass holders.

 

Can someone pick up my CAP on my behalf?

Yes. They will need to bring your Citizenship Document and a piece of your photo ID.

 

Do I need photo ID to use my pass?

Yes.

 

What happens if I move or my contact information changes?

Please e-mail CAP@icc-icc.ca with your new contact information (please be sure to provide your full name and specify what information has changed).
